CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

Correctional Health Services (CHS) provides integrated medical,
dental, mental health, and chemical dependency treatment to San

Mateo County’s incarcerated adults and medical and dental care to the
juvenile hall population. Medical services include health screenings,

treatment, education, and 24-hour emergency response for juveniles
and adults. Clinic appointments are available by referral and upon

request, for treatment of chronic conditions such as hypertension,
diabetes, asthma and HIV, as well as for obstetric, orthopedic, and

urgent care. Correctional Health Services also provides support for
forensic mental health services, whose staff work with the legal system

as it relates to laws regarding mental health and custody issues. These
services include crisis intervention, evaluation, treatment, psychiatric

medication, behavior management, and reentry support for adults.
Chemical dependency treatment for adults is provided through the

Choices Program.

COUNTY HEALTH

As a county health department, San Mateo County Health administers
public health programs and provides clinical and supportive services to

the community. Our mission is to help everyone in San Mateo County
