IDEAL CANDIDATE:



     The Director of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services will be a proven leader and progressive visionary with
     the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with the division’s consumers and family members,
     community partners, nonprofit organizations, other County departments, agencies and staff. The ideal Director

     will be:

       A dynamic leader who can establish effective partnerships with the multi-cultural community, contractors,
       consumers, and staff and who is open to continuing to develop his/her leadership practice to motivate and

       empower diverse, multi-disciplinary staff and teams.
       A champion for peer involvement who values lived experience and embraces the idea of involving people with

       lived experience as policy advisors or as members of the workforce.
       A visionary who sees that the County can be a model for behavioral health programs and services that improve
       equitable outcomes for people of all ages with mental illness, emotional disturbance and substance use disorders.

       A strategic thinker, planner and change agent who brings vision to operational reality. An experienced clinical
       administrator with a sound understanding of the full range of behavioral health complexities, services, issues,

       practices and policies.
       Approachable and politically astute, with a management style that fosters trust, loyalty, respect, commitment and

       partnership.
       Excellent communicator, both orally and in writing with an ability to engage and enlist others and make effective

       presentations.
       Astute in resolving controversial issues in a participatory and effective manner. Quick and clear thinking, calm
       under pressure, tactful and positive.

       An excellent problem solver who takes a servant leader approach to supporting each level of the organization to
       identify problems and solve them to root, offering coaching and support for their people. A Lean practitioner, who

       uses problem-solving to drive improved systems and improved quality and experience for clients and staff.
       Highly focused and organized, capable of integrating multiple programs, systems and resources toward a common

       goal.
